Description
Shimano LBX brake pads are one of the most popular and must-have upgrades for SurRon Light Bee riders. These Shimano Saint Zee Ice Tech metal brake pads give a significant improvement in stopping power, wet and dry, with built-in cooling to handle heat on long descents.
Why upgrade to Shimano LBX brake pads?
The stock pads on a Light Bee are adequate for gentle riding, but they can struggle on steep hills, long descents and in wet conditions. Shimano Ice Tech pads use cooling fins that help dissipate heat under heavy use, so the pads last longer than stock and keep working consistently when pushed to their limits. Riders also report none of the annoying noise issues that can come with some pads.
- Shimano Saint Zee Ice Tech metal brake pads
- Significant improvement in stopping power, wet and dry
- Built-in cooling fins dissipate heat under heavy use
- Longer life than stock pads
- One of the most popular SurRon Light Bee upgrades
Built for tough terrain
Hills and long descents are where brakes are pushed hardest. As pads heat up, some lose bite and the lever starts to feel inconsistent. The Ice Tech design on these Shimano LBX brake pads helps manage that heat so your brakes keep working the way you expect, ride after ride.
Fitting tips
- Push the pistons back gently before removing the old pads
- Clean the calliper with brake cleaner and keep oil and grease well away from the pads and rotor
- Fit the new pads, refit any pins and clips, and pump the lever until it is firm
- Bed the pads in with a series of moderate stops before riding hard
Bedding in
New pads need to bed in to reach full power. In a safe, clear area, do a series of gradually harder stops from medium speed without locking the wheels. This transfers pad material onto the rotor and gives strong, consistent braking.
