The V5 high-power Race Series LBX race battery is a beast of a power upgrade for the SurRon Light Bee. This 72V 42Ah battery is capable of a peak of 28kW and 15kW continuous, and it comes with a charger included.

The V5 LBX race battery has a new look with an injection-moulded top, a QS8 receptacle harness and a new Gen 5 display. With 28kW of peak power available, it is designed for riders running high-power controllers who want the best of the best.

Performance figures
This battery is capable of a 28kW peak, holding 360A for 51 seconds before MOSFET thermal protection intervenes, with 4.4V of sag. It can deliver 15kW continuous at 200A discharge. Those figures make it one of the most capable LBX race battery options available.
Clips and hinges
Both a medium clip and a longer clip with hinges are in the box. Pre-2025 LBX owners only need the medium clip – check the product notes for your model year.
Fitting tips
- Turn the bike off and remove the existing battery
- Fit the correct clip and hinge for your model year
- Connect the QS8 harness, ensuring the connection is fully seated
- Charge with the included charger before your first ride
Battery care tips
Lithium batteries last longest when they are looked after. Avoid storing the battery completely flat or fully charged for long periods – around half charge is ideal for storage. Charge in a dry, ventilated area away from flammable materials, use the correct charger for your battery voltage, and never charge a battery that is damaged, swollen or has been submerged. Let a hot battery cool down after a hard ride before charging.

The V5 Race Series is our most powerful Light Bee battery yet – a huge step up from stock. This lbx race battery gets a fresh injection-moulded top, a QS8 receptacle harness and a new Gen 5 display.

It is a complete plug-and-play package: heavier-gauge wiring and QS8 connectors on the battery side, plus a custom harness that takes the place of the air switch. An extended battery clip is included so it fits a Light Bee without seat extenders.
For best results we recommend running it with the X-9000 controller. Compatibility with other third-party controllers cannot be guaranteed.
