Description

These heavy duty tubes are made for electric dirt bikes and come in five sizes from trusted brands including IRC, Maxxis and Xtread. A tough tube is one of the cheapest ways to reduce flats and keep riding when the trail gets rough.

Why choose heavy duty tubes?

Electric dirt bikes deliver instant torque and are often ridden hard over rocks, roots and sharp edges. Standard thin tubes can pinch flat or puncture easily. Heavy duty tubes have thicker walls that resist pinch flats and punctures much better, so you spend less time fixing tyres and more time riding.

  • Thicker walls for better puncture and pinch-flat resistance
  • Five sizes to suit popular electric dirt bike wheels
  • Trusted brands: IRC, Maxxis and Xtread
  • Front and rear options
  • An affordable way to reduce flats

Available sizes

  • IRC 70/100-19 heavy duty front tube
  • IRC 80/100-21 and 90/90-21 heavy duty front tube
  • Xtread 110/100-18 and 120/100-18 heavy duty rear tube
  • Maxxis 3.00/3.25-18 TR4 rear tube
  • Maxxis heavy duty 90/100-16 TR4 tube

Choose the size that matches your tyre from the options above. Always use the right size tube designated for each tyre size.

Fitting tips

To get the most from your heavy duty tubes:

  • Dust the tube lightly with talc so it can settle evenly inside the tyre
  • Inflate the tube slightly before fitting so it holds its shape and does not twist
  • Take care with tyre levers so you do not pinch the new tube
  • Check the valve sits straight and the bead is seated evenly before inflating to riding pressure

Safety and storage

Store tubes away from sunlight, water or moisture, grease, solvents, petrol, heat and ozone, as sparks from motors and other electrical equipment can generate ozone. Do not use a cut, cracked or wrinkled tube, and never use a tube that is the wrong size for your tyre. Improper assembly of tyre, tube and rim can cause a burst and injury, so follow the fitting instructions carefully.

Pair with rim locks

Heavy duty tubes work best alongside a rim lock. If you run lower pressures for off-road grip, a rim lock stops the tyre spinning on the rim and tearing the valve out of your tube.

Product notes

Storing your heavy duty tubes

Rubber degrades when it is kept in the wrong conditions. Store spare tubes somewhere cool, dark and dry, clear of oil, grease, fuel and solvents, and away from electric motors or other equipment that sparks, since sparking produces ozone.

Fitting safely

A tube that is installed incorrectly can burst and cause injury. Work through these steps every time:

  1. Check the size printed on the tube matches your tyre. Throw away any tube that is split, cracked or creased, or has a bent or damaged valve.
  2. Fit a fresh tube whenever you change the tyre, and fresh rim tape whenever you change the tube.
  3. Centre the rim tape in the rim well so every spoke nipple is fully covered.
  4. Run your hand around the inside of the tyre and remove anything that has worked its way in.
  5. Use proper tyre levers only – makeshift tools can damage the beads and the tube.
  6. Push the valve through the rim hole, seat one bead and ease the tube inside the tyre.
  7. Begin opposite the valve and lever the second bead on, checking constantly that the tube is not trapped between bead and rim.
  8. Add a little air and look at the bead line all the way around on both sides. Once it is even, fit the valve nut, inflate to the pressure in your bike’s manual and replace the valve cap.
