Description
Stage 3 Surron Ultra Bee race build: 50kW, under 100kg
Take Surron’s full-size Ultra Bee, replace the parts that limit its power, and tune it to 50kW – that is our Stage 3 Surron Ultra Bee race build. Weighing less than 100kg and fitted with competition-grade components, it is aimed squarely at experienced riders chasing the most extreme electric off-road performance available.

You can have it on 17-inch supermoto wheels for tarmac circuits, or on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear for dirt. There is also a choice of two 22S Ultra Bee batteries – 76Ah or 45Ah – so you can balance run time, weight and budget.
$23,000.00 including GST as listed with the 76Ah battery; $21,000 including GST with the 45Ah battery.

The parts behind the Surron Ultra Bee race build
Stage 3 is about replacing the components that decide how much power the bike can produce and deliver. This build includes:
- X-9000 controller – governs the current sent to the motor.
- XUB-80 race motor – engineered for high-output competition use.
- 22S Ultra Bee battery – your choice of 76Ah or 45Ah.
- 22S fast charger – matched to the upgraded battery.
- Ultra Bee Essential Kit – a package of supporting upgrades.
- Competition race components used throughout.
Combined, these parts make the 50kW race tune possible and turn a road-going Ultra Bee into a dedicated competition machine.
What “Stage 3” actually means
In tuning circles, a “stage” is shorthand for how deeply a bike has been changed compared with stock. The first stages are typically software tweaks and bolt-on parts. Stage 3 is a different league: the core power hardware is swapped for high-output equivalents, allowing the bike to produce far more than it ever could from the factory.
That is precisely what has been done here. Race controller, race motor, larger 22S battery and a matching fast charger have all been installed and configured to run a 50kW tune. Think of it less as a modified Ultra Bee and more as a race bike that happens to start life as one.
How the Surron Ultra Bee race build differs from bolt-on upgrades
Plenty of Ultra Bee owners start with bolt-on upgrades – bars, pegs, tyres, perhaps a controller. Those parts improve comfort and control but leave the power ceiling largely where it was. A Surron Ultra Bee race build attacks that ceiling directly. Controller, motor, battery and charger are upgraded as a matched set, so no single component becomes the weak link when the 50kW tune calls for maximum current, and the Essential Kit parts help the chassis cope with the extra speed. The result feels cohesive rather than like a pile of separate upgrades.
The 50kW race tune in context
A standard MY26 Ultra Bee HP produces 24.5kW in Turbo mode. This Surron Ultra Bee race build is tuned to roughly twice that peak figure.
Put that output into a bike under 100kg and you get a power-to-weight ratio very few electric off-road machines can touch. It demands skill, focus and respect on every ride – and repays experienced riders with acceleration that is difficult to find anywhere else.
Supermoto or dirt: choose your configuration
The same build can take on two very different characters:
| Supermoto | 17-inch wheels for tarmac and mixed-surface tracks, where light weight and huge power make corner exits brutal |
|---|---|
| Off-road | 21-inch front and 18-inch rear – the traditional full-size dirt combination for motocross, enduro and trail riding |
Tell us your preferred configuration at checkout; we will run through the details together before the build is readied for shipping.
76Ah or 45Ah battery?
Both options are 22S Ultra Bee packs – 22 cells wired in series – and the build comes with a 22S fast charger to suit. The 76Ah pack stores more energy for longer stints on the bike. The 45Ah pack is smaller and cuts the price to $21,000, making sense for racers who run shorter motos and can charge between them.
- Go 76Ah for long sessions, trail rides and fewer charging stops.
- Go 45Ah for short race heats, a lower price and charging between motos.
- Undecided? Describe a typical ride or race day and we can suggest the better fit.
Managing current, heat and battery load
At higher power, the battery, controller and motor all carry more current and generate more heat. That is the reason a Stage 3 build upgrades all three, rather than simply winding up the tune on factory components.
Treat it sensibly and it will reward you. Let the bike cool between hard sessions, do not plug in a hot battery immediately after a flat-out run, and pay attention to how it feels. If something changes, stop and inspect the bike before riding again.
Getting the most from supermoto mode
On 17-inch wheels the bike becomes a seriously fast supermoto. Fit tarmac-specific tyres, set pressures to suit the surface and temperature, and stiffen the suspension so it stays settled under heavy braking.
Smooth throttle control is everything on corner exit. With this much power on tap, rolling the throttle on progressively is both quicker and safer than grabbing a handful.
Getting the most from off-road mode
Fitted with the 21/18-inch combination, this is a motocross, enduro and fast-trail weapon. Match tyres to the dirt you ride, run a touch less pressure when it is loose, and tune the suspension around your body weight and how big you jump.
Stay standing, relaxed and let the bike move beneath you. Its low weight makes precise placement easy, but on loose ground the power will find the edge of traction very quickly.

Who should buy this race bike?
This machine is for experienced riders only. It makes sense for:
- Competitors looking for a sharp electric weapon for MX, enduro or supermoto racing.
- Seasoned Ultra Bee owners who have pushed stock performance as far as it goes.
- Riders who want it done properly – a finished, professionally specified build rather than a garage project.
Newer riders will be far better served by a standard Ultra Bee HP or a Light Bee 2. You can compare our electric bikes to find a better fit.
Race build vs standard Ultra Bee HP
| Model | Output | Use | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 3 Surron Ultra Bee race build | 50kW race tune, under 100kg | Off-road and competition; supermoto or dirt wheels | $23,000.00 |
| Ultra Bee HP | 24.5kW (Turbo), 520Nm | Fully ADR approved, 12-month warranty | From $10,490.00 |
For a registrable, warranty-backed bike for everyday riding, the standard Ultra Bee HP is the sensible choice. The Stage 3 build is for those who want maximum track performance and accept the extra attention a race machine needs.
The advantage of buying a finished build
Building a race bike from the ground up takes time, knowledge and plenty of trial and error. With this Surron Ultra Bee race build, the major parts have already been chosen to work together and the bike has been configured to run its 50kW tune.
You spend less time hunting for parts and more time riding. You also know exactly what you are buying – every major part is known and listed, unlike a second-hand special with an unclear past.
Living with a Surron Ultra Bee race build
Between race weekends the bike is refreshingly simple. There is no fuel to drain, no oil to change and no top-end rebuild schedule to follow. Charge the battery, check the consumables and it is ready for the next outing. Many owners also use theirs for private-property practice or enduro training days, using gentler throttle inputs when the goal is skill development rather than lap times. Because it shares its platform with the Ultra Bee, parts are easy to source, keeping downtime to a minimum during a busy season.
Budgeting for a race season
The bike is only the first expense of a race season. Allow for race-rated protective gear, club membership and entry fees, and more frequent replacement of tyres, pads, chains and sprockets, all of which wear faster under competition loads.
Many racers bring spare levers, an extra set of tyres and a basic toolkit to every meeting. Our Ultra Bee parts range will help keep your build running.
Transport and storage
Move the bike on a proper motorcycle trailer or in a ute with a wheel chock and good tie-downs, securing it through the chassis rather than relying on the handlebars. At home, keep the bike and battery somewhere cool, dry and secure, and leave the battery part-charged if it will sit unused for a while.
Can it be registered?
No. This race bike is strictly for off-road and competition use and cannot be registered. Road vehicles must comply with the Australian Design Rules (ADRs), and a bike modified for racing falls outside them.
Use it at approved tracks, race meetings and on private land with permission. If you need a registrable Surron, the standard Ultra Bee HP is the one.
Preparing for race meetings and track days
The competition components mean the build is track-ready, but race bikes reward meticulous prep. Ahead of every meeting, inspect the chain for wear and tension, and check brakes, tyres, suspension settings and fasteners, and make sure the battery is full.
Read your club or series rules on electric motorcycles before entering – there may be specific requirements for safety gear, battery handling and scrutineering.
The case for racing electric
Electric race bikes bring real advantages: instant torque, no clutch or gearbox to manage, and nothing flammable to refuel between motos. Being almost silent can help at noise-restricted venues, and the workload in the pits is lighter than with a combustion engine.
The Stage 3 Ultra Bee adds race-level power on top, so you get a bike that is thrilling on track and easy to live with between rounds.
Your first session checklist
- Top the battery up to 100% on the supplied fast charger.
- Adjust tyre pressures and clickers to suit the day’s surface.
- Check brakes and throttle response at walking pace.
- Confirm the chain, wheels, axles and bolts are all secure.
- Keep your first laps well within the limit while you learn how the power arrives.
Protection for a 50kW machine
A bike this powerful calls for top-tier protection: a certified helmet, goggles, gloves and boots, plus armour for knees, elbows and chest, using race-rated gear where your series requires it. Work up to full performance gradually, and save limit-pushing for closed circuits you are familiar with.
Maintaining a Surron Ultra Bee race build
Race machines need closer attention than standard bikes. Plan to inspect after every session and service wear items more often.
- Inspect drive components, brakes and rubber once every session is over.
- Charge somewhere cool, dry and well ventilated.
- Store the battery part-charged during longer breaks.
- Keep electrical connections clean and dry.
- Re-torque fasteners often, especially after jumps or crashes.
Spares and upgrades are in our Ultra Bee modifications, Ultra Bee performance parts, motors and controllers and batteries and chargers.
