The XUB-80 motor V2 is a 50kW peak bruiser for the SurRon Ultra Bee. Now in its second generation, it keeps the same external dimensions as before but adds an improved internal mechanical design and better material selection, giving you more efficiency, more real-world range and even smoother power.
Why upgrade to the XUB-80 motor?
The stock Ultra Bee motor is strong, but serious riders and racers eventually want more. The XUB-80 motor delivers up to 50kW peak, transforming acceleration and top-end performance. The Version 2 design also improves efficiency, so you get more range from the same battery and a smoother, more controllable power delivery.

Important: X-9000 controller required
The XUB-80 motor is only compatible with the X-9000 controller. It is not compatible with the OEM controller or any other aftermarket controllers. If you do not already have an X-9000 controller and the correct Ultra Bee harness, you will need those as part of your build.
Building a complete power upgrade
A 50kW XUB-80 motor needs the rest of the bike to keep up. Make sure your battery can deliver the current required, your drivetrain is in good condition and your brakes and suspension are ready for the extra performance. Ask us about matching batteries, harnesses and displays.

- Follow the installation instructions carefully and torque all mounting bolts to specification

The second-generation xub-80 motor keeps the outside dimensions of the original 50kW unit but gets a reworked internal design and better materials. The result is higher efficiency – which means more range on the trail – plus a smoother, more predictable delivery for technical enduro, without giving up the relentless top-end pull riders loved in version one. It is designed to outperform other motors in its class.

The motor is built to stay cool at race pace, so you can concentrate on the riding rather than watching temperatures – whether that is on a track, a trail or private land.
Why an encoder instead of hall sensors?
Many competing motors use hall sensors, which only approximate where the rotor is. They are typically relied on from start-up to roughly 2,000 rpm, after which the motor runs sensorless. Under abuse – wheelspin, hard braking, rapid throttle changes – that estimated angle can be off, triggering big current spikes that trip many controllers and cut power (the X-9000 copes better than most).
An encoder reads the rotor’s exact angle at every speed and samples far more often. That gives a smoother, more controllable powerband, avoids the spikes that upset controllers, and sharpens low-speed torque control and throttle response. Each motor is built and tuned specifically for the X-9000.
Safety – please read before buying
This is a high-performance motor for experienced riders in controlled settings, and it is dramatically faster than a standard motor.
- Off-road only. Never ride it on public roads or in crowded places.
- Experience required. It is unsuitable for beginners; you need the skill to manage a very powerful machine.
- Ride with care. Stay alert to your surroundings at all times.
- Upgrade your safety gear. Fit brakes and components capable of handling the extra speed and power; stock brakes are not adequate.
- Know the law. Follow local off-road regulations and ride only in designated areas or on private tracks where it is permitted.
- Not for children. Keep the bike away from children and never let minors or inexperienced people ride it.
- Ride clear-headed. Never ride while affected by alcohol, drugs or anything else that impairs judgement.
