The Surron Light Bee 2 ADR is the road-registrable version of the bike that has shaken up the lightweight electric motorcycle market. How reserving works
We have kept the process simple and risk-free:
- Place a deposit. Add the reservation to your cart and pay $1,000 (GST included) at checkout.
- Your spot is held. That deposit reserves a bike from the initial shipment.
- We confirm the details. Before anything is delivered, we will contact you with final pricing, specifications and an expected arrival date.
- No lock-in. If it is not right for you, the deposit comes back in full.
Since the bike is not yet finalised, some details may shift before delivery. We will keep you informed every step of the way.
Why a registrable Light Bee 2 is a big deal
The regular Light Bee 2 is an off-road machine only. Being able to put plates on one changes how you can use it: commute during the week, connect trail networks using sealed roads, or ride straight from home to the trailhead without a trailer or ute.
Registration requires a vehicle to satisfy the Australian Design Rules (ADRs) – the national safety, anti-theft and emissions standards. The Surron Light Bee 2 ADR is being engineered to meet them, so that owners can then plate it through their state or territory authority.
The platform underneath the Surron Light Bee 2 ADR
The road version shares its foundations with the Light Bee 2, a bike that brings Ultra Bee-class output to a small, light and agile frame.
- Roughly 65kg, producing 24kW and 410Nm.
- Semi-solid-state battery of 78.54V and 45Ah with 3.53kWh usable – the off-road bike is rated for 108km at a steady 40km/h.
- An EVO-2 motor that revs to 8,700rpm (the Light Bee X motor peaks at 5,200rpm) from a casing 9% smaller in diameter.
- Bee Matrix controller and seven riding modes.
- Forged aluminium double-cradle frame claimed to be half as strong again as the Light Bee X’s.
- 38mm Kashima-coated forks with 215mm of travel and four-piston brakes on 220mm and 203mm discs.
Lighting, mirrors and other road equipment, are still being finalised, and the ADR model’s exact numbers will follow.
EVO-2 power with Bee Matrix control
Surron’s EVO-2 motor is lighter, more compact and much stronger than the unit in the Light Bee X. Turning 67% faster from a smaller diameter, it delivers 24kW at peak – three times the MY26 Light Bee X – without making the bike any bigger.
The Bee Matrix controller governs that output and runs the full suite of rider aids. In everyday traffic, that translates to gentle, predictable acceleration, with a serious reserve of performance whenever you need to get clear of a situation.
A stronger chassis with premium suspension
A completely new forged aluminium double-cradle frame forms the backbone. Welds have been taken out of the most heavily loaded areas, and Surron quotes a 50% strength gain over the Light Bee X frame. A reworked swingarm and tougher fittings allow jumps, whoops and enduro riding while preserving the light, flickable feel Light Bee owners know.
The 38mm dual-chamber forks carry a Kashima finish for less friction and more consistent damping, and front travel increases to 215mm from the Light Bee X’s 200mm, paired with a properly tuned rear shock and linkage. Four-piston calipers on a 220mm front and 203mm rear rotor resist fade – reassuring in heavy traffic as much as on a steep, loose descent.
Battery technology and range
The semi-solid-state battery was developed with QingTao Energy, and Surron calls it an industry first for a series-production e-motorcycle in this price bracket. Cell density is 320Wh/kg and the complete pack weighs only 14.9kg.
The off-road Light Bee 2 is rated to cover up to 108km at a steady 40km/h – far more than the MY26 Light Bee X. Range like that turns the Surron Light Bee 2 ADR into a realistic daily commuter that can also double as your weekend trail bike.

Seven riding modes for road and trail
| Crawl | Fine control at walking pace on technical ground |
|---|---|
| Eco | Softer output for maximum distance – suited to longer commutes |
| Daily | Smooth, balanced delivery for everyday road use |
| Sport | Sharper response for trail riding |
| Track | Everything the motor has, for closed circuits and race days |
| Turbo | Brief bursts of peak power |
| M (Custom) | Your own profile – power, torque and top-speed caps – built in the app |
Rider aids that help on any surface
For road riding, Eco and Daily will be the go-to settings. Whatever mode you choose, the Bee Matrix controller adds a layer of electronic support:
- SWC Wheelie Control in Beginner and Advanced settings.
- Three-stage traction control to keep the rear tyre hooked up on gravel, wet bitumen or loose dirt.
- Linear regenerative braking through a progressive lever that also acts as a backup throttle input.
- Surron app over Bluetooth for mode changes, M-mode profiles and ride history.
Planning your commute: real-world range and charging
Rated range is measured at a constant 40km/h, and on the road you will often travel faster, which uses more energy. Build in a healthy buffer when working out your daily distance. Even so, many riders should find the platform covers a typical return commute with charge left over.
Surron Australia quotes around two hours for a 20–80% charge on the off-road Light Bee 2, through its 1,000W onboard charger. With a power point available overnight at home or during the day at work, charging becomes something you barely think about.
The case for an electric road bike
Running costs are where electric motorcycles really shine. You never buy fuel, oil changes are a thing of the past, there is no clutch plate to wear out and no gear changes in stop-start traffic. A charge at home is cheap compared with a tank of petrol, and routine servicing is mainly tyres, brake pads and chain care.
Electric bikes are near-silent and produce no tailpipe emissions, and the instant torque makes filtering through traffic effortless. A registered Surron Light Bee 2 ADR adds something few commuter bikes can offer – the freedom to turn off the bitumen and ride proper trails on the same machine.
Surron Light Bee 2 ADR or Ultra Bee HP?
Need a registrable Surron right now? The Ultra Bee HP is already fully ADR approved and offered in T and R trims from $10,490.00 – a full-size machine producing 24.5kW and 520Nm, with a 910mm seat.

The Light Bee 2 ADR suits riders who want comparable power in a lighter, more compact bike and do not mind waiting for the first allocation. Riding exclusively off-road? The off-road Light Bee 2 is in stock from $8,990.00.
ADR version vs off-road Light Bee 2
Both share the same platform. The off-road model is available now and cannot be registered. The ADR version adds the equipment and certification required for registration, so once plated it can be ridden legally on public roads.
Staying strictly off the road? The off-road bike is the quicker way to start riding. If you want a single bike for both the road and the trail, reserve the Surron Light Bee 2 ADR.
Who is the Surron Light Bee 2 ADR for?
- Commuters wanting a registrable electric bike that is light and quiet.
- Existing Light Bee riders who would rather ride to the trails than trailer the bike there.
- Dual-sport riders wanting big performance without a full-size motorcycle.
- Early adopters keen to be among the first owners in Australia.

Where you will be able to ride
With plates fitted, it can use public roads just like any other registered motorcycle, within your licence conditions and local road rules. Off the road, you can ride on private land with permission, at motocross and enduro venues, and at trail parks that welcome electric bikes.
In some areas, state forests and trail networks open designated tracks to registered bikes as well. Check the rules for each area beforehand and keep your registration up to date.
Registration, licences and insurance
When your bike arrives you will need to register it in your state or territory before using public roads. Each jurisdiction sets its own registration, compulsory third-party (CTP) insurance and licensing rules, and costs vary from state to state.
Hold on to your tax invoice, find out what your transport authority requires for a brand-new ADR-compliant motorcycle, and confirm which licence class applies to you. We will supply any paperwork you need from us.
Deposit and pricing
The reservation deposit is $1,000.00, GST included, and refundable in full. It is not the full purchase price – we will confirm the final price of the ADR model with you before delivery.
As a guide, the off-road Light Bee 2 starts at $8,990.00. The road version carries extra equipment for compliance, so its final price may be different.
Getting ready while you wait
A little preparation now means you can ride as soon as the paperwork is done:
- Make sure you hold – or can get – the correct motorcycle licence for road use in your state.
- Ask your transport authority what paperwork a brand-new compliant motorcycle needs.
- Decide on a charging spot – a garage outlet or another secure power point is ideal.
- Invest in road-rated gear: helmet, jacket, pants, gloves and boots.
- Plan your security – a disc lock and a safe place to park are a good start.
If specifications change
Because the bike is still being finalised, its specifications, road equipment and price will be locked in closer to delivery. We will contact everyone who has reserved a Surron Light Bee 2 ADR with those details before the bike ships – and if the final version does not suit you, your deposit is still fully refundable.
Being an early Surron Light Bee 2 ADR owner
Getting in early has its advantages. First-shipment owners will be among the first riders in Australia to register a Light Bee 2, and you will have your bike while later buyers are still waiting for stock. Reserving now also gives you time to sort out your licence, insurance, riding gear and charging setup, so the Surron Light Bee 2 ADR can go straight from the crate to the road once registration is done.
Why reserve through Electric Dirt Bikes
Reserving with us takes a couple of minutes online and holds your allocation from the opening shipment, backed by a refundable deposit.
- A clear deposit amount with GST already included.
- Updates on specifications and timing as Surron confirms them.
- Parts, upgrades and ongoing support once your bike is delivered.
Delivery when the shipment lands
As soon as the first bikes arrive, we will be in touch to organise delivery. They travel crated to metropolitan, regional and rural addresses and need some assembly on arrival.
Charge the battery, check the tyres and brakes, and make sure every fastener is secure. Then complete your registration before heading out onto public roads.
Riding an electric motorcycle in traffic
Electric bikes make very little noise, so ride defensively and assume pedestrians and drivers will not hear you coming. Eco or Daily give the smoothest response in traffic. Dress for the bitumen every time: approved helmet, armoured jacket and pants, gloves and boots.
When you head for the dirt, add goggles and off-road armour. The electronic aids are a safety net on loose ground, not a replacement for sound technique and proper protection.
Parts, upgrades and maintenance
Once your bike arrives, our range of genuine OEM parts and batteries and chargers will keep it running. Changes to a registered motorcycle can put its compliance at risk, so check with us before adding performance parts.
- Plug in after riding and never leave the battery empty for long.
- Keep the bike and pack in a dry, cool place out of the sun.
- Clean and lube the chain and keep it at the right tension.
- Check tyres, pads and bolts regularly, and wipe the Kashima fork tubes clean after each ride.
